A Midsummer Night's Dream WebQuest!

The Forest

In this play, the forest plays such a crucial (maybe this would be a good vocab word?) role in the play....

Take ten minutes or so to read the following link, then answer the questions for ACTIVITY 3.

ACTIVITY 3

Now that you have some background about Shakespeare's forest, answer the questions that follow on your Word document or piece of loose-leaf paper.

DON'T FORGET TO USE COMPLETE SENTENCES!  YOU WILL NOT GET FULL-CREDIT IF YOU DON'T!

-What is the setting of the play at the very beginning of the play?

-What is the setting at the very end of the play?

ACTIVITY 4

It seems that the forest is almost like a dream world....

1.  For your next activity, write one paragraph about the weirdest dream that you've had!

Make sure that you use details in your paragraph.  If you had a dream about an evil cat, then I want to know what color it was, how big it was, if it smelled funny, what it did, what you were wearing... everything you can remember!

2.  After you're done writing about it, write another small paragraph in which you tell me what you think that dream means.  Why do you think you had that dream?  What were you thinking about before you went to bed?  Do you think it's a sign!?  "I don't know" is not an acceptable response here!

Conclusion

How can we tell the difference between illusion and reality?

Think about then answer these questions:

-To what extent can we believe our own eyes?

-In which ways is illusion important?

-Why do we need illusion in our lives?

-Does illusion play a part in romance?

Finally, one last thing to do!

Create a chart in which you place two "dream-like" situations from the play on one side and two "real-life" situations from the play on the other.

Make sure you describe each of the situations (setting, characters, situation, etc.).

You can format the chart any way you choose; however, you must have the following information:

-Two dream-like situations

-Two real-life situations

-Four descriptions (two dream-like and two real-life)

-Two small pictures describing ONE of each of the situations.

Because you need all of the information above, you may want to format your table with five rows and five columns: see board for more information.

Congratulations!
